The Becoming a Banker series features real, Central National Bank employees who have found a rewarding career in banking. We hope you enjoy knowing a little bit about the people who serve you.
Sometimes, the most meaningful careers begin with a leap of faith — or in this case, a well-timed opportunity and a little encouragement from a friend. For one long-time Central National Bank team member, what started as a post-high school job turned into a fulfilling, decades long career.
I joined the banking industry in 1977, just three months out of high school and not even 18 years old. With no business background and little professional experience, I simply took a chance. A friend already working at the bank told me about an open position, and I decided to go for it. My first role was in bookkeeping, where I handled check sorting, filing, and mailing out bank statements. What followed was a progression through a variety of positions. From bookkeeping, I moved to proof operator, then receptionist, teller, Customer Service Representative, and eventually Retail Office Supervisor. Today, I am in the role of Personal Banker.
What I love about working for Central National Bank is that we are a true community bank. I enjoy the relationships I have made with both customers and co-workers. I never thought I would make a career of banking. I kept saying I don’t like change, but our banking world changes all the time. No daily work is the same, and there are always interesting facets when working with the public.
Looking for a career with purpose, connection, and lifelong potential? Central National Bank just might be the place where your story begins.
