The Becoming a Banker series features real, Central National Bank employees who have found a rewarding career in banking. We hope you enjoy knowing a little bit about the people who serve you.
My Mom was a lifetime banker. I grew up in the halls of a competitor of Central National Bank here in Junction City while my Mom worked her way up from Teller to Mortgage Officer. Because both of my parents worked, my grandma picked me up from school every day.
On Wednesday nights, she would drop me off at the bank after they closed so I could ride home with my Mom. I’d hang out while Mom and the other employees rolled loose coin for the upcoming week. Mom always bought me a grape soda from the vending machine in the breakroom after we were done. The vending machine had to be from the 1950’s the way it rattled and sputtered every time it was used.
I think I always wanted to be a banker like Mom. When I started attending Kansas State University, I was able to obtain a part-time Personal Banker position at Central National Bank and, as they say, the rest is history!
Fifteen years later I’m traveling for Central and serving commercial customers as a Director of Treasury Services. I love every minute of it.
