The Becoming a Banker series features real, Central National Bank employees who have found a rewarding career in banking. We hope you enjoy knowing a little bit about the people who serve you.

As a business marketing student at Kansas State University, I had the idea that landing a professional office job or bank position would beef up my resume to help me secure a career position once I graduated. Thankfully, I was able to do that the summer of 2013; my first bank position was as a part-time teller/financial service representative with Central National Bank. It was an awesome experience right off the bat. I had an awesome supervisor at the time and great respect for the overall leadership of the retail side of the bank. I was given tons of opportunities to further my knowledge and skills. I figured out during my first year of working at CNB that I enjoyed the banking industry and loved working for this bank in particular – they treated me so well and I loved the family culture of the company. I wanted to continue to learn and take on more duties and was offered that ability as I was promoted to Retail Office Supervisor in early 2015. Five years later, I was promoted again to Retail Field Manager. And, a year later, I was given the opportunity to venture into the Commercial Lending side of the bank as a Commercial Lender. In 2023, I regretfully left the bank to lead a branch at another institution… but not for long!

The family culture and resources provided to grow me professionally and personally are some things I loved about working for Central. So, when an opportunity popped up to come back to Central as a Business Development Manager, I immediately jumped at it and gratefully was selected to come back home and serve in this new role. There truly is no place like Central National Bank and I’m very blessed to be a part of the family. Embracing the culture and getting involved in as many company activities, committees, etc. that you can is one way I’ve found a fulfilling career in banking. To those who are interested, I recommend putting in the effort to understand the history of the bank and all of the products and services offered. Additionally, remember that you don’t have to know everything. It is very helpful to know who you can reach out to for guidance.

If you’re looking for a professional career with room to grow, try banking! We provide on-the-job training and some great people to work with!
