Making a career change can be daunting, especially when it involves stepping into an entirely new industry. But for one Central National Bank team member, the shift from retail to banking wasn’t just a job change — it was a life-changer. She was looking for better hours to raise her kids. After years of working long retail shifts — often 45-50 hours a week, including evenings and weekends — she knew something had to give. That’s when she found banking.

Her journey began with a position as a teller. While it was a new environment, the foundation she built in customer service translated seamlessly to other positions within the bank. There have been many chances to grow into different positions and with that came new challenges with growth as the benefit. When it comes to working for Central, what she loves most are the people, especially helping people. She also enjoys working with numbers which certainly comes in handy at a financial institution!

When asked how banking might fulfill someone’s search for a meaningful career, her answer was simple yet insightful. There are so many different areas in the banking world. Every day can be different. We encounter different individuals and look for the right service to fit their needs. For me, it brings me joy to resolve any issue a customer may have.

Thinking about a career in banking? Take a page from her story. You might just find that it’s more than a job — it’s the path to something truly fulfilling.
