As the weather cools down for fall, it seems that across the state, festivals and many other activities are planned as an opportunity for you to take advantage of the great weather. While we certainly can’t list all the exciting activities going on across the state, here are a few different festivals, events or fun activities to plan for this fall!
Apple Everything!
Fall is known for pumpkin everything, but if that isn’t your speed, check out one of these apple/cider festivals. On September 21st Fort Riley is hosting an Apple Day festival! Activities include games, demonstrations, food and drink booths, and more! This annual event is free to attend and has something for all ages.
The 38th Annual Cider Days in Topeka will be held September 28th and 29th. Explore the vintage market, sample various items and enjoy live music all weekend long! Tickets can be purchased at https://www.ciderdaysmarket.com/.
The 41st Annual CiderFest in Louisburg, Kansas will be September 28th and 29th as well as October 5th and 6th. Visit craft booths, watch demonstrations or enjoy the many other fun, family friendly activities! This fun event is free for all ages to attend.
Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh my!
Zoos all across the state are feeling festive and are hosting exciting events for you to check out this fall. Saturday, October 12th, The Rolling Hills Zoo in Salina will be hosting Pumpkin PaZoola! Kids 12 and under get in half price with a paying adult and can see the animals, play games and more! Food vendors will be available as well. Boo at the Zoo, which is a similar event held at the Topeka Zoo, will be October 19th and 26th. For those looking for a night out without the kids, the Topeka Zoo is also hosting Zoo Boo’s and Brews on Friday, October 11th. Other Fun Activities
Hear ye, Hear ye! The fall season also means it’s time for the Renaissance Festival! September 28-29th in Wichita, the 20th Annual Great Plains Renaissance and Scottish Festival will take place. This fun event for all ages brings out the bravest of knights for jousting, the fine craftsmanship of blacksmiths, music from bagpipes and much more! Can’t make the journey to Wichita? The Kansas City Renaissance Festival may be your alternative! Open weekends from August 31st until October 14th, come roam the village, enjoy fantastic food and shop for unique crafts! Fall’s furriest event can be found in Wichita. The 23rd annual Woofstock put on by the Wichita Humane Society is a fundraiser set to take place Saturday, October 5th. Come out for live music, contests, food and plenty of activities for your furry companion. Event tickets are $10 and can be bought at the door.
